Sheri Kay
BS, RYT 200
Sheri began exploring yoga in 2011 as a means of physical, emotional, and spiritual recovery following multiple surgeries and chemotherapy for breast cancer. In her journey to reconnect with both body and spirit, she discovered yoga as a beautiful pathway toward her recovery and healing.
As a trauma-informed yoga teacher, Sheri creatively integrates music, breathwork, movement, and balance, typically with a focus on nervous system regulation. Her classes are warm, welcoming, and dynamic—always accessible to all levels. More than anything, Sheri loves helping students cultivate awareness and a sense of safeness in their own bodies, one breath at a time.
In addition to teaching traditional yoga, Sheri facilitates grief circles and offers yoga practices specifically designed to support those experiencing grief. As both a death worker and a bereaved mother, she brings profound sensitivity and compassion to holding space for the complex and deeply personal nature of the grief journey.
Outside the yoga studio, Sheri works as an organizational coach in the field of dentistry. She is also an end-of-life coach and a death and dying doula. Passionate about dying with dignity, Sheri was one of the founding directors of the Center for Conscious Living & Dying, located just down the road in Swannanoa. A published author, and perpetual student of life, she is deeply committed to supporting others through life’s many transitions and loves being part of the Black Mountain community.
